This answer applies to SIM cards purchased before January 1, 2017.
Some phones, such as Samsung, some Motorola, Android and Apple iPhones, require special dialing instructions or simple OneSimCard settings menu changes in order to make calls.
It is possible to make almost any phone entirely compatible, so you can call directly without using the OneSimCard menu or *146* by following these simple programming instructions below.
How to activate compatibility mode:
 1. Locate OneSimCard Menu.
On iPhones it is called SIM Applications menu and is located under Settings- Phone menu
On Androids it is called SIM Toolkit app or OneSimCard app and it looks like one of the apps.
 Â
- Open "OneSimCard" menu ( SIM Applications, SIM Toolkit, STK)
- Select "Settings
Newer SIM Cards: Select Service Code option and follow instructions below:
Older SIM Cards: After selecting Settings:
- Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
- Dial digits "1101" and select "OK" (Screen will show "CC OptionX: ON" message)
Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down, and have removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above, again.
If for any reason after entering compatibility code, you still do not get a ringback or you get the ringback the first time you make a call, but second time it would not work, please enter code 802 into the Service Code window instead of 1101 as provided above.
Â
iPhone users can download OneSimCard Assist App from iTunes that will takes care of the iphones compatibility issues, except for removing the ringback.
For example, calling to USA:Â Dial *146*0016175551212# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
* is a star character located on the keypad
- To check your balance dial *146*099# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- To add funds dial *146*098XXXX*ZZ# and press the TALK (or SEND) button,
where XXXX - 4 last digit of your credit card on file, ZZ - Recharge amount
- You need to press * on your phone in the above dialing sequences
- Activation of voice mail *146*091# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- Deactivation of voice mail *146*090# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- Check number of messages in Voice Mail *146*094# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- To listen to voice mail *146*095# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
The sequence *146* and # at the end can be used from any phone. However, most phones do not require it.
We strongly recommend you to watch very short video tutorials that will help you to understand how to make calls, SMS and data on your OneSimCard Phone.
These videos are available in the Help Menu of your OneSimCard Portal. You need to log in to your OneSimCard account first and then proceed to the Help Menu to be able to access these videos.
Again, this troubleshooting advice might be needed only for older SIM cards.
Â
Â
If you just activated your SIM card and can not make a test call by following the instructions in the user manual, you will likely just need to power off the phone and power it back on again. The phone should automatically re-register with one of our partner networks. Remember, if you answer the test call when it rings you will be charged for the call.
If your phone or SIM card is lost or stolen and automatic recharge is on, this could be a serious problem.
To prevent this, log in to your account and activate the option to block your service immediately after you notice your phone or SIM card is missing. You can find this option in the My SIM Cards menu. Your OneSimCard service for this SIM card number will be instantly blocked. The remaining balance on your lost SIM can be transferred to another SIM card on your account or you can order a replacement SIM card if you would like to keep your phone numbers from the lost SIM. However, the existing data package can’t be transferred to the new SIM card.
Alternatively, you can contact customer service online or call 001-617-313-8888 for assistance.
This reply does not apply to OneSimCard Europe & More SIM or newer SIM cards purchased after January 2017.
Older SIM cards might require entering the compatibility code on your  iPhone.
How to activate compatibility mode:
 1. Locate OneSimCard Menu.
On iPhones it is called SIM Applications menu and is located under Settings- Phone menu
- Open "OneSimCard" menu ( SIM Applications)
- Select "Settings
Newer SIM Cards: Select Compatibility option and make sure "On" is selected
Older SIM Cards: After selecting Settings:
- Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
- Dial digits "1101" and select "OK" (Screen will show "CC OptionX: ON" message)
Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down, and have removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above, again.
We strongly recommend you to watch very short video tutorials for iPhone that will help you to understand how to make calls, SMS and data on your OneSimCard iPhone.
If your phone is not Jail-Broken, you still can use OneSimCard Assist app available from iTunes. This app will help you to dial numbers properly by correcting mis-dialed numbers and will allow easy access to OneSimCard functions like checking balance, recharging your SIM, activating discounts and others.
These videos are available in the Help Menu of your OneSimCard Portal. You need to log in to your OneSimCard account first and then proceed to the Help Menu to be able to access these videos.
Again, this is for older SIM Cards. Newer SIM cards do not require entering any codes in iPhone or other types of phones.
Some phones such as Samsung and some other brands require dialing a specific prefix 146 in front of the dialed string when used with a OneSimCard.
For example, calling to USA: Dial *146*0016175551212# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
* is a star character located on the keypadÂ
- To check your balance dial *146*099 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- To add funds dial *146*098XXXX*ZZ and press the TALK (or SEND) button,
where XXXX - 4 last digit of your credit card on file, ZZ - Recharge amount
- You need to press * on your phone in the above dialing sequences
- Activation of voice mail *146*091 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- Deactivation of voice mail *146*090 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- Check number of messages in Voice Mail *146*094 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- To listen to voice mail *146*095 and press the TALK (or SEND) button
The sequence *146* can be used from any phone. However, most phones do not require it.
It is possible to make almost any phone entirely compatible, so you can call directly without using OneSimCard menu or *146* by following these simple programming instructions below.
How to activate compatibility mode:
 1. Locate and Open "OneSimCard" Menu. ( It could  be displayed as STK Menu)
    2. Select "Settings"
Newer SIM Cards: Select "Compatibility" and make sure "On" is selected
Older SIM Cards: After selecting Settings:
- Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
- Dial digits "1101" and select "OK" (Screen will show "CC OptionX: ON" message)
Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down, and have removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above, again.
d when used with a OneSimCard.
Some phone models do not allow direct dialing with older OneSimCard SIMs sold before January 1, 2017.
To get around this problem, you should try either of these methods:
- Locate the OneSimCard menu on your phone. (Some phones have it in Applications.)
Make a call using menu 'Call'.
- You can also make a call by dialing directly *146*00 Country Code Number#
For example, to make a call to the USA, you would dial *146*0018574440686# (do not forget to hit pound at the end of the number)
* is a star character located on the keypad
Other examples of how to use the *146* dialing prefix if necessary:
- To check your balance dial *146*099# and press the TALK (or SEND) button
- To add funds dial *146*098XXXX*ZZ# and press the TALK (or SEND) button,
where XXXX - 4 last digit of your credit card on file, ZZ - Recharge amount
- You need to press * on your phone in the above dialing sequences (it is a star character located on the keypad)
The prefix *146* and # at the end can be used from any phone. However, newer OneSimCard SIM do not require it and you should be able to dial codes directly, 091, 094, 095, 099 or 098XXXX*XX Talk.
If you have an older SIM and the dialing does not work without entering *146*, please follow these simple instructions to remove the need to dial *146*:
How to activate compatibility mode:
Â
 1. Locate OneSimCard Menu.
On iPhones it is called SIM Applications menu and is located under Settings- Phone menu
On Androids it is called SIM Toolkit app and it looks like one of the apps
- Open "OneSimCard" menu ( SIM Applications, SIM Toolkit, STK)
- Select "Settings
Newer SIM Cards: Select Compatibility option and make sure "On" is selected
Older SIM Cards: After selecting Settings:
- Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
- Dial digits "1101" and select "OK" (Screen will show "CC OptionX: ON" message)
Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down, and have removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above, again.
When dialed directly, some Nokia and other phones can display message: "Call is not allowed" or "Call is barred". Just ignore this message and wait for the ring-back for 10 seconds or so.
Local carriers in Saudi Arabia sometimes block standard OneSimCard outgoing calls. If this happens you need to either (a) enter a compatibility code into the settings of your phone or (b) initiate your call by sending an SMS message from the regular SMS menu (not the OneSimCard menu) of your phone.
How To Activate Compatibility Mode:
- Open "OneSimCard" menu
- Select "Settings"
- Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
- Dial digits "802" and select "OK" (screen will show message "output channel is SMS")
Bear in mind that if you have powered your telephone down and removed and reinstalled the battery, you will need to follow the programming steps outlined above again.
How To Deactivate Compatibility Mode:
- Open "OneSimCard" menu
- Select "Settings"
- Agree with message by pressing "Yes"
- Dial digits "801" and select "OK" (screen will show message "output channel is USSD")
How To Dial Without Activating Compatibility Mode:
Initiate your call by sending an SMS message from the regular SMS menu (not the OneSimCard menu) of your phone.
To: 9146
Message: 00 + Country Code + Number +Â
* is a star character located on the keypad
For example, to call from Saudi Arabia to Boston USA you should go to the SMS menu of the phone and send a message:
To: 9146
Message: 0018574440686
After your SMS is sent wait 3-10 seconds. You will get a callback as usual and your call will be connected to the destination number.
Note 1: You can't send this SMS from the SMS OneSimCard menu of the phone.
Note 2: If you see on the screen that the message has not been sent, make sure that SMS settings of your phone is complete and the SMS Center number is set to: +3725099000
Â
There are no special instructions to receive calls in these countries.
Not Really. If you are planning to use Mobile Data, you will need to enable Data Roaming on your phone. Everything else in modern phones get done automatically. However, you should ensure that the APN on the device is correctly updated when the SIM card or eSIM card is enabled.

Yes. To reduce fraud and to protect you from over-spending, there is 30-day credit card spending limit set for each individual account. You will only be able to charge up to a certain amount during any 30-day period. You can see your current limit by logging in to your OneSimCard account and going to the Purchase History menu. There, you will find a Credit Card Authorization form available for download. If you would like to increase your monthly credit card spending limit, please download the Authorization form and submit it back to OneSimCard as instructed on the form.
We strongly suggest that you set your monthly credit card limit before going overseas as dealing with the form on the road can be much more difficult.Â

Please note: Some phones, like iPhones, Androids, and other smartphones, can access data without you even knowing it if you have data enabled. We strongly recommend checking the settings on your phone and disable mobile data roaming if you will not be needing data service. By default, all SIM cards are pre-programmed with data service enabled, once you activate your data package.

There can be a number of reasons why a battery does not hold a charge. Excluding the possibility of it being a faulty battery, there is another important factor to consider. If your phone is not registered on a roaming network, the battery will drain very quickly as the phone is constantly searching for a network to register on. So, if you get on a 6 hour flight and do not turn the phone off, or put it into airplane mode, by the time you land at the airport your battery will be drained and you will not be able to call back home.
The same thing will happen in those areas with spotty or weak signal network coverage - the battery will drain very fast. It is always a good idea to have an extra battery with you when you travel abroad.
Â
This is a known issue with Apple's Facetime and iMessage applications on Apple iPhone devices. We recommend disabling Facetime and iMessage so it will not be able to automatically send SMS to this 447786205094 number. Any SMS sent to this number automatically by your phone can not be refunded by OneSimCard. Additional questions regarding iPhone applications and how they communicate should be directed to Apple Support.
You can learn more on the Apple Support web site:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5968824
If you left your phone on during your flight or cruise then you should fully power down and restart your phone. Once your phone powers back on it should automatically select an available roaming network.
If your phone is not a quad-band phone, please make sure that the bands of your phone are those required in the country of your travel. You can look it up here.
In some countries like in USA turning off 3G mode of the phone will make it quicker for the phone to register on the network.
SMS messaging usually works without any additional setup of the phone.
In rare cases when there are issues sending or receiving text messages, please look at the following:
Problem with Sending SMS:
- Incorrect SMSC number (SMS Service Center Address) in handset settings.
SMSC number should be set as follows:
Â
1. For Standard  and Plus OneSimCard SIM: +3725099000 for all countries except:
a. China:  +85290296747
Â
2. For the Expedition (former Data & Roam) SIM as well as for Europe & More SIM: +37256100041
Â
Special instructions for Apple Phones:
With Apple iPhones to check SMSC:
From the phone dialer Dial *#5005*7672#Â
You will see the SMSC set currently on the phone.Â
To change the SMSC on Iphone dial:Â
Plus and Standard SIMs: **5005*7672*+3725099000# for all countries except China and **5005*7672*+85290296747# if in China.
Expedition (formerly Data & Roam) and Europe & More SIMs in any country:Â **5005*7672*+37256100041#
Â
If your phone requires the name of Message Center Name enter: SMSC
SMS lifetime is short - must be at least 2 hours or set to Maximum settings.
Try sending SMS from OneSimCard menu
Â
 Problem with Receiving SMS:
- Receiving Handset does not have enough free memory for incoming SMS.
- Receiving Handset was turned off or out of the coverage area during SMS lifetime set on the sending phone - usually 2 hours.
- Sender's SMS provider does not have an agreement with the receiving network.
This means that your SMS text message has been split up into multiple messages because it contains too many characters.
Each standard GSM format SMS text message can be a maximum of 160 characters. If you send a text in a foreign language or that contains any unsupported characters, the text will be sent in Unicode format with a maximum character length of 70. If your text exceeds these character limits then it will automatically be split up and sent as multiple messages and your account will be charged accordingly for each outgoing SMS text message.
There is a known bug with iPhone phone book. If you are trying to text to a contact that is entered in the phone book, and the contact is not entered in proper international number format, the SMS will not go through even if you just enter the number in the SMS menu directly and properly.Â
Please edit the record in the phone book to be +CountryCode_Number. It needs to have the + character in front, which is an equivalent of 00.
You will also need to delete all recent attempts to send SMS to this number from the Messaging menu. It should be no conversation or attempts to send SMS left in the phone to this number.
We understand that this is very frustrating, but do not know why Apple will not fix it. This problem affects only Apple phones.
Example: for US Number 1-617-600-8250 you should have entered in the address book: +16176008250
Delete existing text conversation after fixing the phone book record.Â
You can always test your SMS by sending SMS to OneSimCard Support number +16176008250 from your OneSimCard phone. This will create an automated ticket in the system and you will know if the message was delivered or not. You will be charged regular SMS rate for this message.
Sometimes when moving from the USA, Canada or Mexico to another country, the SIM card will need to be reset to properly register on a new country roaming network.
- If you have the OneSimCard Menu on your phone (it may be called Sim Application Menu on iPhones or SIM Toolkit on Androids), go to the menu, scroll down to Settings and enter Service Code 2003 and confirm, then Code 000 and confirm. For older SIM cards after this enter Service Code 1101 and confirm. Turn the phone off and then back on.Â
- If you do not have access to the OneSimCard Menu then turn off your phone, remove the battery for 20 seconds, reinstall the battery and then turn back on your phone.
Some recent Android upgrades to versions 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 have a bug causing the OneSimCard Menu, labeled as SIM Toolkit, to be disabled.
If you do not see the SIM Toolkit app in your Android phone, please try doing the following:
Go to Settings>Security>Other Security Settings>Setup SIM Card Lock>Lock SIM Card. It will ask for the default SIM PIN. Enter 0000. Power off the phone and turn it back on. The SIM Toolkit app will then become available, though it might take 1-2 minutes for the phone to display it.
On Android version 5.1 go to Settings > SIM Cards > SIM Toolkit
Once you have access to the SIM Toolkit, select it, scroll down to Settings, enter 1101 and press confirm. Your phone will now be able to dial normally.
For eSIM cards, make certain that your eSIM is enabled.
Â
There are three ways to check the remaining balance of purchased data plan.
1. On-line in the Discount Section of the My SIM Cards menu of your web account or in the mini account at https://ma.onesimcard.com/Â
2. For eSIMs from the OneSim eSIM app
3. From OneSimCard mobile phone (for Universal, Expedition and eSIM World SIM cards only):Â
   Dial the following: *146*942#
Â
The remaining data balance will be displayed.
Yes. All unlocked iPhones' Hotspot feature works with OneSimCard SIM.
Â
There are a few settings to make sure for this to function properly on your iPhone:
1. Settings - Cellular - Cellular Data - ON
2. Settings - Cellular - Data Roaming - ON
3. Settings - Cellular - Cellular Data Network - Cellular Data - APN = APN will be set automatically
4. Settings - Wi-Fi - ON
5. Settings - Personal Hotspot - ON.Â
After turning the Hotspot on, you should stay on the Personal Hotspot screen of your iPhone for SSID of your phone to show up on other Wi-Fi devices, so you can get connected. After you connected to the Hotspot, you can leave the screen. Alternatively, you can always use Bluetooth or USB connection to provide the internet access from your OneSimCard iPhone Hotspot to your other devices.
For DataMax eSIMÂ can be installed once.
For eSIM World purchased after Jan 1st, 2024, after the initial installation, the eSIM can be reinstalled up to 9 times. This eSIM can NOT be installed in any other device. This eSIM can only be reinstalled in the original device. In no circumstances can the eSIM be installed more than 10 times (the initial installation plus 9 subsequent installations).
For eSIM Asiania this eSIM can only be installed 1 time. It cannot be reinstalled after the initial installation.
In no circumstances can the eSIM be installed more than 4 times (the initial installation plus 3 subsequent installations).
This is very simple!Â
- Go into your "Settings" app, and choose "Connections"
- Click on "Mobile Networks"
- Toggle on "International Data Roaming"
